Worthing Unit has a varied and vast amount of Instructors which are needed to help benefit the ever increasing grades passed by its Cadets.

---------------------------------------------------------
WHO ARE WE? We are one of 400 Training Ships in the United Kingdom catering for approximately 20,000 young boys and girls aged between 10 and 18.
Each Training Ship or 'UNIT' is responsible for raising its own funds and operating costs, but the overall control and direction of training is via a central command team at Sea Cadet Headquarters in London.
Our background is Naval maritime orientated and we are privileged to wear the uniform of the Royal Navy, we are not, however, a pre-service training organisation.
---------------------------------------------------------
WHAT DO WE DO? As the name Sea Cadets implies, a great deal of our activities are waterborne, for example:-
Canoeing (BCU), Pulling (rowing (SCC)), Dinghy sailing (RYA), Motorboat handling (RYA), Offshore sailing in Yachts and Square Riggers (RYA (SCC)) and Offshore Power (RYA (SCC)).
Other aspects of training include instruction in Fire Prevention, Rope work, Seamanship, Band, Parade Drill, Guard, .22 Rifle Shooting, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, BTECH, Expedition Training (in all weathers), Meteorology and Piping.
Cadets can specialise in certain subjects attaining a high level of practical and theoretical knowledge, these are Seamanship, Cook/Steward, Writer/Stores, Physical Training, First Aid, Marine Engineering and Communications.
Opportunities exist for all Cadets to attend courses at Naval or Sea Cadet establishments to receive and gain qualifications in all of the above.
All Cadets become involved in competitions, first at District then Area and perhaps National level. Over the course of the last Seven years we have been involved in competitions for some of the following activities:- Sailing, Pulling, Power, Shooting, Swimming, E.T., Guard Drill, Un-Armed Drill, Piping, Football, plus many others within the Corps.
We are involved with the Local Community and always turn out to assist with Poppy Collections, Queen Alexandra Hospital(home for ex-service men), the Lions and the Mission for Seamen. We are always present at the Remembrance Sunday Parade in the Town. The purpose built Unit Headquarters, boats and transport all have to be maintained 'in-house' and Cadets (and even parents) are asked to take up paint brushes, brooms and lend a hand at times. We run monthly jumble sales to help fund our lighting and heating costs and again Cadets are gladly welcomed to give a hand.
---------------------------------------------------------
WHAT DOES IT COST? The uniform is supplied for a non-returnable deposit of £25.00. Cadets are expected to purchase their own boots or shoes and Black/ Navy blue Socks. The Cadets pay a quarterly subs amount (£24 every 3 months for Seniors Cadets and £12 every 3 months Junior Cadets) to help towards the Unit's standing costs, such as lighting, heating, water, etc. Other costs are optional, for example ,
Camp Type Normal Cost Unit / District / Area Weekend £10.00 to £20.00 Unit / District / Area Week Less than £60.00 National Week (on RN Base) Less than £90.00 Week on T.S. Royalist £225.00, but this can normally be halved through sponsorship
These price are inclusive of accommodation, food, expert tuition and general travel.
