Christmas at Tescos
The weekend before Christmas seemed a great time for a bag pack, but with the finacial worries at present we feared the worst. However those worries were unfounded the cadets, staff and committee who attended managed to collect over 800 pound and with the potential of match funding upto 750 pound Christmas has came early this year.

Sainsbury's Bag Pack
Sainsbury's in Crosby were our hosts in our July charity bag pack. The tills never stopped all day, neither did the hard work of the Cadets, Staff and Committee. The final figure raised, being over 800 pounds. The staff and committee are hoping for future bag packs to be as successful, we would like to thank the management and staff from Sainsbury's for their help during the bag pack.

Waterloo Youth Activities Fayre
The cadets, staff and committee attended the recent youth fayre organised by the Waterloo Residents Association, we ran a Field Kitchen to provide hot food for the attendees, and even with the poor weather and local access problems we sold over 500 burgers, hotdogs and bowls of scouse which, in connection with Barclaycard, Barclays and Natwest match funding helped raise around 2000 pounds for the unit funds. Congratulations to all who attended

Sefton Bag over £800 for the Unit Coffers!
A brilliant turnout of Cadets made the most of the Christmas shopping rush at Morrison's in Southport in a monster bag-pack, hoping to swell the coffers.
Over two nights, generous shoppers full of Christmas spirit donated a total of £827 while the Cadets packed their shopping with a smile and a cheeky 'You would have got that cheaper at Tesco'.
Well done to all involved!

Calling All Adults (who have a couple of hours to spare!)
Unlike the other Cadet Forces, each local Sea Cadet Unit is an individually registered charity responsible for raising the money each year to cover the entire running costs of their own facilities (i.e. rent, heating, lighting, electricity, insurance, maintenance costs etc). For the average Unit, this comes to between £10,000 and £12,000 per annum, i.e. almost £1,000 every single month.
Sea Cadet Units are constantly striving to raise the funds needed to enable the young people to have the opportunity to benefit from our activities and the life skills we help develop. Local fundraising events range from contests to fit as many Cadets as possible into one car, to more straightforward street collections. One Unit even organised a sponsored jail break! Units also make applications to funding bodies such as trusts and foundations, companies, lottery boards etc.
Please give us a call if you have a couple of hours to spare to help the young people in your local community. Call us on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7.30pm or email us at seftonseacadets@talktalk.net, we'd love to hear from you!
