And there are plenty of opportunities to get away from it all by taking a trip on a Royal Navy warship, sail before the mast aboard the Sea Cadet square rigged flagship T.S Royalist or fly in a navy helicopter. With over 400 units around the UK you will get a chance to see other parts of the country and learn new skills on specialist courses at our training centres.

When you drop into Northampton unit you'll find lots of friendly faces waiting to welcome you onboard. the officers and instructors are highly trained to make sure you enjoy every aspect of Sea Cadet life - a cut above any local youth club. If you like what you see you can join as a cadet and Navy way of life, earning promotion up to a Cadet Petty Officer, really the tops!

So if you're bored with computer games and TV, why not try a taste of real life and the real thing.

Don't miss out on a chance to make the most of your quality time - get a bit of the action.

What is TS Laforey?

TS Laforey is the training ship that has been established in Northampton since 1942 and on its current site since 1951. The current unit building was built in the 1970's. The name Laforey is gained from the Northampton affiliated ship in the second war HMS Laforey. Laforey was sunk in the Mediterranean in March 1944 with heavy lose of life. Every year the unit organises a Laforey Day Parade to commemorate this loss.

Royal Yachting Association Training Centre

Northampton Sea Cadets are a recognised Royal Yachting Association Training Centre and can offer its cadets training in the Young Sailor Dinghy Stages 1 & 2, Dinghy sailing level One and RYA National Powerboating schemes at Level 1 and 2 standard. This means that the cadets and adults in the unit work continuously to Nationally Recognised Waterborne Qualifications which are approved by the National body responsible for these watersports.

Northampton is one of only a few Sea Cadet units with this status.
