|
Two Six Heave
Our Major Evolution at the Unit Review gives cadets the opportunity to demonstrate some of the many skills acquired in the Corps. There is also an historical interest as we can see in this picture as they run through their gun drill.
|
Cadets Can Dance Too
The Unit Review Minor Evolution gave the cadets an opportunity for a bit of fun. They donned tu-tus, face paint and white gloves, that all showed up well in UV lighting. They then ran through a PT display that showed us all just how fit they are.

Kendal Sea Cadets group photo, October 2007
This picture (courtesy of Maralynne Jones Photography) was taken just a couple of weeks before our Unit Review by the District Officer. All the happy smiling faces show just how confident we were that we would get a very good assessment. And we were right !!
Of the 18 separate areas assessed by the Inspecting Officer, ranging from training levels and safety awareness, through to boat care standards, they were all given a Good Assessment.

Prizegiving December 2007
Recognition for achievement and effort is one of the cornerstones of Kendal Sea Cadet's cadet development policy. This picture shows all the cadets who won an award at the Annual Prize Giving evening on 29 Octtober 2007. The smiles say it all !
|
Yet More Prizewinners
More cadets bask in the glory of the awards presented to them at the 2007 Presentation evening by our President, the Mayor of Kendal. Well done cadets ! As the Mayor said, you are a credit to the Unit.

The Divisional Officer's Inspection
Lt Cdr Phil Burns chats to cadets during his inspection. Thankfully, all uniforms, badges and boots were in good order and the DO was very impressed. Well done cadets.

This Is What We Do
Kendal Sea Cadets take part in many events and activities away from their home Unit, TS Royalist. These photos show you a small sample of some of them. This first one shows cadets on the Bridge Wing of HMS Cumberland.
|
Kendal Cadets visit Gibraltar
In this shot some of our cadets are enjoying the sun in front of the Rock of Gibraltar. This trip was only made possible with the generous support of Kendal Lions, Kentmere Ltd, the Neighbourhood Forum and the Council. Whilst in Gibraltar they enjoyed time on the water with some our armed forces who are based there and they also learned about the naval history associated with the area.
|
Fun in the Sun
One of the more unusual places to be pictured reading the latest Harry Potter novel.
|
Cadets at Kendal Rifle Club
Cadets visit the Kendal Rifle Club every month where they are supervised and trained by Rifle Club Members. All cadets have the opportunity to gain marksmanship badges and many go on to represent their Unit and District at Area and National Competitions.
|
The concentration and discipline required to become an accurate shot often leaves the cadets feeling exhausted and in need of a break. Here we see some of our best shots relaxing in the Rifle Club lounge.
|
Swimming Team 2007
2007 was an excellent year for the Kendal Cadet's Swimming Team. This photo shows them holding the many swimming medals and trophies gained at the Area Swimming contest where they competed against the best Sea Cadet teams in the North West.
|
Sail in a Square Rigger
TS Royalist is also the name of one of the MSSC's offshore fleet that all cadets can spend a week on sailing around the coast of Britain. Have you got a head for heights?

The Kendal CO and cadets in Malta 2005. We always visit the local cadet Units whenever we are on one of our foreign trips. As an international organisation the Sea Cadets have many opportunities to sample cadet life all over the world. This year we are visiting Gibraltar.
|
Learn Boatwork
The RN provide the Unit with Admiralty Sailing Craft that can be either sailed or used to teach the teamwork necessary to row a large, heavy boat in a straight line. It also helps to build up leadership and coordination skills as well as developing shoulder muscles.

Prizewinners
Taking part in Competitions lies at the very heart of many cadet activities. Whether sailing, canoeing or simply taking part in Unit quizzes, a cadets' natural competitive spirit is always given the chance to flourish. At the heart of these competitions we always try to encourage a sense of fairness and teamwork that will stand the cadets in good stead in whatever walk of life they chose.

Sail in one of our yachts
Sea Cadets can also sail on two Tradewind yachts, TS Vigilant and TS City Liveryman, part of the Offshore Fleet yachts.
