Planning permission has now been granted to erect our purpose built building adjacent to our old site on Snow Island, Kings Mill Lane.

Work is due to commence in Spring 2009 and be completed by the end of the year.

We are seriously involved with fund raising for the building work. We would like anyone who believes they may be able to help develop the funds for the project to get in touch as we still have a long way to go before reaching our target of £250,000.

We wish to thank all those who have help us reach this first mile-stone. This will undoubtedly lead to exceptionally exciting times in 2009.

Sea Cadets Offshore

Twelve cadets and two instructors spent a week onboard a 25m Offshore Motor vessel, Training Ship John Jerwood.

The cadets joined the ship on Saturday 30th August and after an overnight rest the new ship’s crew were ready to set sail. The cadets were detailed into watches. Each duty would last for two hours and the duty watch would be responsible for keeping lookout, navigating and helming. On entering port all the cadets would pull together to perform harbour routine.

The voyage took the cadets to Bangor (Ireland), Cambletown and Largs. Cadets achieved Offshore Power Hand Qualifications and badges for their uniforms.

Have a look in our Gallery for pictures from the week.
