Cadets Meet Prince William at Ham Polo Club London
Cadets from the Gosport Sea Cadet unit helped out at a charity polo match on Saturday 6th June at the London Polo Club in Ham, where they met some very important guests. Both Prince William and Prince Harry played in the match, and they specified which of their charities should benefit. The RN Submarine Museum in Gosport was one of the six charities. Prince William is seen here with some of the cadets, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed their day.

District Pulling Competitions Yole Class 2009
After the main pulling race competition was finished the unit entered the new Yole class rowing Competition. The units 2 Petty Officer Cadet were the crew of the Yole and did credit to themselves and the unit and came in in third place, not a bad position as neither of the team had ever heard of the yole class let alone rowed one.

District Pulling Competition 2009
Sunday 31st May a very hot day saw the unit taking part in the annual District Pulling Regatta, two teams were entered with the Boys Open team coming second and the Girls Open Team Winning.

District Regatta Sailing and Boat Handling 2009
Gosport unit entered the annual District Regatta on Saturday 30th May, It was a very hot day. The Cadets were entered for the following competitions, Sailing in the Pico, Topper & Bosun Classes; all of the Sailing teams have made it through to the Southern Area Sailing Regatta.
The Power Boat Handling team also displayed a fantastic display of Boat handling and after coming second for the past 2 years WON to become the best team in the district this year. This is the first time that the unit has won this competition since 1998 after an eleven year gap .Now the Team will be up against the rest of the best that the area has to offer.

RNP Inspection 2009
On the 21st April the Unit under went its RNP Inspection; The Area Officer Commander Andy Giles inspected the cadets and witnessed the unit evolutions and presented awards to the cadets. The Cadets performed one of the best RNP inspections the unit has ever done. Most of the Cadets families supported the night. The night was the Cadets night to shine and they did, demonstrating to the District Officer and Area Officer that our unit is one of the best in the Country.

District Guard Competition 2009
The Unit entered the annual District Guard competition at HMS Excellent on Sunday 22nd February, and achieved some fantastic results. See below for more information on the events entered at the competition.

The Best Guard in the District
At the guard competition the Unit entered an Armed Guard, the competition was tough this year they up against three other units from our district, and had a fantastic result scooping the Best Armed Guard and Best Armed guard Commander Awards.
The Cadets put a lot of time and effort in to the short training period for this competition; they did the unit proud, the staff proud and themselves. What a Team!!!

Winners of the Unarmed Squad 2009
The Unit also entered the unarmed squad competition this year and again did Gosport Proud, the unarmed squad received a great round of applause and cheering as they marched off the parade ground after completing one of the most nervous 10 minutes for thier instructor, but the Cadets acted like professional, marched like a squad who had been training together for years instead of being together for a couple of months. It was a great drill display to watch. BZ!!!!!!!!!(A Royal Naval Term for Fantastic, Brilliant)

Area 22 Shooting Team.
Gosprt Unit entered the Area 22 Competition under the supervision of the 1st LT. and achivied a fantastic result.
The competition was held on Sunday 1st February at the NSRA Bisley.
The winners of the Team competition were; 1st Sussex District 2nd West Kent 3rd Central District

Armed Foces Day 2009 Chatham
What is Armed Forces Day? Armed Forces Day honours the outstanding contribution made by current members of the Armed Forces and by veterans of all ages. Held on the 27 June, the day will be an opportunity for us all to join together to pay tribute to our Armed Forces past, present and future.
On the day itself, and in the weeks leading up to it, events will take place across the country, ranging from national and regional celebrations, to dozens of local events organised by councils, ex-Service organisations, community groups and schools.

District Football 2009
On Sunday the 16th of January the unit entered the district Football Competition The unit had a fantastic result in 3 of the 4 teams making it through to the Area Competition next month. The Senior Boys beat Bognor in the Final The junior boys beat Worthing and the Junior Sea Cadet won the competition Well done to all.

Flag Day in Gosport & Lee on the Solent
On Saturday the unit held its annual Flag Day in Gosport and Lee on Solent. Many thanks to all the Cadets and staff & Committee Members for giving up there day to do this. As you can see by the picture no one’s safe when it comes to collecting for the unit not even the unit Mascot he got Roped in, i mean who wouldn’t donate to him? Bless

District Regatta
The unit Entered the district regatta held at SABS on Saturday 31st may, we entered the
Power Boat Handling Competition on which the crew came runners up by half a point (we were robbed), the crew did the unit proud in there perfomance, dress and standards of displacement boat driving, in which the coxon of the boat did a fantastic job and the crew did equally well.
Dinghy Sailing
We entered two classes of sailing, the Pico Class and Topper class, the Unit won the Pico class and also the topper class. the whole sailing team again did a fantastic job in the 3 races which were held

General Update Sheet
• There will be a boating day on Sunday 25th May for those selected for the district regatta. Times 10:30 to 16:30, Bring a T1, Lunch and Hot Drink.
• The District Regatta is to take place over the weekend of 31st May and 1st June. More details will be issued soon.
• We are doing a sponsored Sail, Pull and Paddle to Fareham Town Quay over the weekend of 6th to 8th June in order to raise funds for both the new rescue boat and a new fleet of kayaks – please help support us in raising funds. Course joining instructions will go out next week.
• District Canoeing competition is Sunday 15th June – Details out soon.
• There is an Expedition course in the New Forest over the weekend of 20th to 22nd June. Please see the Training Officer for more details.
• District Camp 20th to 25th July at Jersey Camp IOW – Details out soon.
• If you haven’t passed your email address to the Admin Officer (Mr Alan Magrath), could you please – this will enable us to keep the costs down and send out more information regarding camps / courses etc.
• A letter will be coming out shortly regarding Data Protection Act for Project Westminster (The Cadet forces database) and a new standing order mandate form – watch this space !

Area Guard Competition 2008
After the competition was snowed off on the 6th April it was rescheduled for the following weekend and this time it rained. The Guard did the unit proud with a fantastic display of armed drill they pulled it out of the bag on the day but the competition was won by Kent District. Unit Boating Week April 2008

Unit Wins a Burgee for 2007
During the Awards night the Commanding officer receives a burgee on behalf of the ships company from Captain Watts and unit Chairman Mike Drapper.

Unit Awards Night
The annual awards night took place on Friday 4th April 2008, The VIP for the ceremony was the Captain of the Royal Navy School Of Marine Engineering, Captain G M Watts Royal Navy, also attending was the Lord Mayor of Gosport and Lady Fieldhouse and many others.
There were many awards presented during the night to the deserving recipients the winners can be seen in the photo and also more photos can be found on the picture gallery page.

4 cadets from our unit vistit HMS Puncher, the cadets then spent the day at sea with the crew.

The Winning Guard at the District Competition 2008
On Sunday the unit entered the District Guard competition, A lot of effort has been put in by all who entered and the effort has paid off, the armed guard won the competition and are now through to the Area Competition.

New Years Day Dip 2008
The unit is currently raising money to purchase a new rib and one of the ways in which funds have been raised is by doing the New Year Day Dip in the Solent, What a Team effort our units finest just before they entered the water on that cold day.
