About the Sea Cadet Corps

The Sea Cadet Corps is a nationwide voluntary uniformed youth organisation, open to all young people aged 12 to 18, Marine Cadets for young people aged 13 to 18 and with Junior Sections open to those of 10 to 12 years of age. It is Britain's most successful nautical organisation for the development of young people with Units run by enthusiastic adult volunteers.

We have a rank structure modelled on that of the Royal Navy, giving Cadets an opportunity to progress and take up positions of responsibility as they acquire skills and seniority. On reaching 18, many Cadets choose to stay on as adult instructors, when their training and talents become invaluable.

The remit of the Sea Cadets is to provide Serious Fun, friendship, adventure and learning new skills based on waterborne and land based activities.

Edmonton Unit Achieve the Following Awards

In December at the District AGM, Edmonton Unit achieved the following awards

Cock of the District - 1st place trophy, awarded to the unit within North East District who gained the most points from district competitions.

Dauntless Trophy - awarded to the unit that has shown the most commitment to boatwork by means of qualifications gained and boating hours logged.

Pepys Huddart Award - awarded to the unit showing best results and commitment to Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

A massize BZ to cadets, staff and committee, this is an enourmous achievement for the unit and you should all be extremely proud. Without your tireless efforts, committment and dedication to the unit, this could not have been achieved.

Keep up the fantastic work and here's to 2008!!

HMS Plymouth

HMS Plymouth used to be the affiliated ship for Edmonton Unit around some 17 years ago. She is currently homeless as Milbay Docks are being re-developed. Plymouth Council are currently considering re-homing her at Sutton Harbour. We have close links to the HMS Plymouth Association who are keeping us informed of any new information.

North London Waste Ltd

N L W CREST

North London Waste are one of Edmonton Sea Cadets sponsers and they have had a very busy year with us. The unit electrics have been done and as soon as the new toilet block is completed they have kindly offered to do the electrics there as well. A BIG thank you from staff, cadets and committee for all their help.

A new canoe has been donated, a Pursuit 100, complete with spray deck, paddle and roof rack. This is a great assett to the unit enabling cadets to get out on to the River Lea and get some practice in for competitions and also Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.
