Great River Swim and Race
Sat Sept 5th Cadets were present at the Pier House for the annual event held in relation to the Great River Race. The first job of the day was to collect the Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Paul Lynch and his wife and dog from Kew Pier and deliver them safely to Chiswick Pier. They also provided safety boat cover for the Great River Swim from Chiswick Pier to Chiswick Eyot and back. This year the event was held after the Great River swim but the tide was running so strongly that two exhausted participants were rescued by the Champ. This was a novelty for the cadets - after all the times they have practised man overboard drill rescuing Trev and Bob, two water filled containers, they had a chance to rescue two real people.

Henry VIII water pageant
The Tudor themed activities offered at the Pier House proved popular with a large group of children who spent time making tussie mussies, decorating sweete bags and making flags in the Tudor colours of green and white to wave at the King as he was rowed past. Some of the cadets got a very close view from the Champ as the flotilla went past.
