Trafalgar Day Parade
Cadets Celebrate Nelsons’ Famous Victory
Approximately 100 Sea Cadets from across Berkshire came to Bracknell to celebrate the 201st anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, in the presence of the town mayor, Mrs Sheligh Pile, borough mayor, Mr Clifton Thompson and the inspecting officer Commodore Richard Pelly. Commodore Pelly, who served in the Royal Navy for 33 years including service on ships HMS Invincible and HMS Brazen, took the salute from the guard of honour commanded by Petty Officer Cadet Kyle from Basingstoke with the Colour carried by Able Cadet Dullingham, from Bracknell unit. After inspecting the cadets on parade, the District Cup, which goes to the unit with the best all around performance throughout the year, was presented to Leading Cadet Cornish of Maidenhead Unit. Inspections and presentations completed, the cadets marched through Charles Square. The music was provided by the combined bands of Reading and Windsor units. The salute was taken by Commodore Pelly. Parade completed, all attended a buffet in the British Legion and had a chance to chat with the Commodore and the mayors. LT Rob Sumner of Bracknell unit said that the Sea Cadets are always on the lookout for more cadets, so if you are aged between 10 and 14 and are looking to do something different then please get in contact by either coming down to Bullbrook community centre on a Monday or Thursday evening after 7pm, or by calling 07879 881 496.
