NEWS...........
Birmingham Vernon assists West Midlands Police in diverting young people from crime and anti social behaviour.
10 young people from South Birmingham were highlighted by local Police Officers as at risk of committing crime and anti social behaviour. Staff at the unit helped with providing facilities and boating equipment to the young people in order to improve their social awareness, team building and communication skills. The course ran throughout the summer holidays with an impressive drop in anti social behaviour complaints being received by the local Police station.

NEWS............
Unit gets a make over.
Birmingham Vernon is currently going through a modernisation programme in order to update facilities for the attending young people. It has been over 20 years since any substantial amount of money has been spent on the building and therefore it’s showing its age. The management committee has recently upgraded the following:
* A new kitchen complete with rewire * New facia board and guttering * Roof repairs * Lighting upgrade upstairs * Decoration throughout the upper floor * New Carpets throughout the upper floor
We are still raising funds to meet the ever-increasing costs of maintaining a modern children’s facility and may be in a position to make further improvements in the near future. Should you require any further information on how you could assist us then please do not hesitate to contact the unit on 0121 454 3136.

Birmingham City Council's - Youth Capital Fund.
Funding has been successfully secured from The Youth Capitol Fund in order to purchase 4 new Pico sailing boats complete with trolleys and covers. 3 cadets completed the application and then it was submitted to a panel of young people who decided to fund our project. This is fantastic news and will enable 8 cadets to sail these new boats three times a week in the summer months.
Thanks goes to The Youth Capital Fund and all involved.
