Welcome

The Sea Cadets is a nationwide voluntary youth organisation, open to young people aged 12 to 18, Marine Cadets for young people aged 13 to 18 and with Junior Sections open to those of 10 to 12 years of age, run by enthusiastic adult volunteers.

If you're out to enjoy life as much as possible, this is the place for you! Fun, friendship, adventure and learning new skills is what we're about - based on waterborne activities, but with lots of other exciting things to learn and do on land as well. Have a look and see what you could be getting involved in.

Sea Cadets & Marine Cadets

Formidable is one of only two units in Northern Ireland that currently have an active Marine Cadet Detachment. While Sea Cadets follow a broad range of training activities based on the customs of the Royal Navy the Marine Cadets follow the exact same based on the Royal Marines.

Our Entry Ages are 12 for Sea Cadets and 13 for Marine Cadets, we do also accept entry for young people aged from 10 into the Junior Section of the Sea Cadets which has their own training program and wide range of activities.
