CADET RESOURCES & COURSES
Most training through the year is carried out within the unit. To enhance and build on the skills taught, courses are available for both cadets and staff, from weekend district/area courses, to week long national courses.
Courses are available throughout the year. For a cadet, the typical cost of a w/e course would be £10-£15, whereas a week long National course will cost £60.00. This includes train tickets, food & accommodation at a naval establishment/ship as well as the tuition fees. Excellent value providing a fantastic week for the cadet. Below is a link to the National Sea Cadet Training Programmes; both boating & shore-based for 09/10 which we use to place a cadet on course. Many of these dates coincide with school term, however most, if not all schools, recognise Sea Cadet Courses as an inportant educational supplement, and will in most cases allow the absence and record the training as 'Educated Off-Site'.

ACTIVITIES IN THE SEA CADETS
The range of activities cadets carry out is quite simply vast; from sailing as a crew member in a sailing ship, to sewing an awning; from learning firefighting techniques, to teaching fitness training and from playing in a marching band, to marching with and learning to fire a rifle. Its all there, whatever you want to do!
As with any activity, it has to be done safely and in order to do this ALL activities are risk assessed and taught by well trained staff starting with the basics.

Blue Jackets
Blue Jacket training makes up most of the activities within the Sea Cadets. No matter what the subject is, it will develop several important attributes within the cadet;
Subject Knowledge Responsibility Leadership
