Welcome to the website of TS Enterprise (Bristol Avonmouth Sea Cadet Corps Unit)
The Sea Cadet Corps is the UK's largest maritime youth charity with a very long relationship with the city of Bristol.
If you are aged 10-12 you can join as a Junior Sea Cadet or 12-18 as a Sea Cadet and join 14,000 other Sea Cadets across the UK.
As a Sea Cadet you can go to sea, learn to sail and do adventure training, all on a naval theme, plus get extra qualifications that can give you a head start in life.
The Sea Cadets is Britain’s most successful nautical organisation for the development of young people and as the oldest uniformed youth organisation we have been doing it for a long time,in fact over 150 years and 100 of those years here in Bristol.
Established in 1854 at Whitstable in Kent, the Sea Cadet Corps was created by communities wanting to give young people instruction on a naval theme. Traditionally old seafarers provided training while local businessmen funded the Unit Headquarters. This separation between the role of training staff and unit management committee is still with us today. It allows each to concentrate on their particular area of responsibility.

The tradition of community-based Sea Cadet Units, like us here at Bristol Avonmouth Sea Cadets, continues today with 400 across the UK (and more across the world) each with charitable status enabling them to raise funds to meet their running costs. All Units are members of the Sea Cadet Corps and are governed by the national charity MSSC - the Marine Society & Sea Cadets.
We work independently of, but in partnership with the Royal Navy and receive corporate support from commercial shipping companies and the Maritime sector. Our core purpose is to introduce young people to an organised, disciplined and stimulating environment where they can learn new skills, interact and collaborate with their peers and where confidence and self-esteem can flourish, while they have a huge amount of fun!

Did you know...
The Sea Cadet Corps own two pieces of the White Ensign flown by HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar?
The flag draped Nelson's coffin during his funeral in St Paul's Cathedral. The coffin was carried by sailors from Victory, who were supposed to set the coffin down salute and move off in a dignified fashion. The sailors had other ideas! Once they set the coffin down each ripped a piece of the flag off as a souvenir!
There are three other known surviving fragments. The only other one in private ownership was sold at auction in 2004 for nearly £50,000!
