WOKING MARINE CADET SECTION
Marine Cadets are young men and women (13 -18 years) who enjoy a challenge, both physically and mentally. The training and ethos of the Royal Marines provides the template for the Marine Cadet syllabus.
The training includes learning many of the skills needed by a Royal Marine Commando to operate as a ‘Sea Soldier’, which include:
• camouflage and concealment • Map reading • marksmanship • ceremonial drill • Weapon handling • boat skills • tactics • communications
The ethos encourages similar values to those of the Royal Marines in young people:
• Adaptability and Professionalism • Cheerfulness and Humour • Consideration of others • Courage and Determination • Humility • Teamwork and Unity
Marine Cadet Detachments (MCD’s) are an integral part of the top Sea Cadet units that have decided and are capable of providing, the wider range of opportunities that Marine Cadets enjoy. Each Marine Cadet Detachment has dedicated staff and ‘barracks’ accommodation within the parent unit.
Woking MCD are under the command of Sgt (SCC) N Allen.

Woking MCD is part of Zulu Company which is under the command of Major (SCC)G Guppy RMR and 3 Troop who are commanded by Captain (SCC) J Juniper RMR

Unit Parents & Supporters Association
The Unit also has a Parents and Supporters Association, who support the Unit Committee in many different ways from driving the minibus, to cleaning the unit and its grounds and many more things in between.
The P&SA are formed of people who give as much time as they can spare to help the Unit in it's aim of developing young people into responsible and helpful members of the community.
As serious as that sounds, P&SA members involve themselves in such roles as making tea and coffee at events, running the cadet nutty (sweets) bar, and minor decorating around the HQ Building.
If you have a skill or just some time to spare, we can use it in ways you could never have imagined before and give you the satisfaction of helping our young people.
Are PS&A is very small at the moment and we are looking for members. So if you can spare a small amount of time, please come a speak to Captain (SCC) Peter Agnew RMR the unit Commanding Officer.

Affiliated Ship
The unit has no affiliated ship at present, its last ship was the LPD HMS FEARLESS L10. FEARLESS was commissioned in 1965 and along with her sister ship HMS INTREPID she had a proud service including service in the Falklands War in 1982. FEARLESS was commanded by the unit President Commodore J R Fanshawe CBE RN from Dec 1996 to August 1998. FEARLESS was decommissioned in 2002 and was laid up next to her sister INTREPID in Portsmouth harbour before finally be sent to the scrap yards (both of them) in 2008. The unit has another link with these ships as Lt Milligan served in INTREPID from 1988 to 1990.
