WELCOME TO TUNBRIDGE WELLS SEA CADETS

Welcome to TS BRILLIANT, the Royal Tunbridge Wells Unit of the Sea Cadet Corps.

We offer opportunities to Cadets in three different sections, firstly there are our "Blue Jacket" Sea Cadets, the Sea Cadets follow a training structure based upon the history, traditions and basis of the Royal Navy and have a Rank Structure similar to that of our "Parent Service" from the age of 12 -18 and is open to both males and females.

The Marine Cadet Section is the Sea Cadets "Commando" Cadet Force, following training in a range of activities, not only the same as the Blue Jackets but also basic miliatary training based on Royal Marines and their traditions. To join the Marine Cadet Section you need to be between the ages of 13 and 18. At present we are only able to accept boys into the Marine Cadets.

Lastly there are the Junior Sea Cadets, these are male or female cadets between the ages of 10 and 12 and their training is wide and varied training pattern.

The Sea Cadet Corps provides equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds to enjoy a variety of activities in a safe environment, and we encourage everyone to take part to their full ability. However some activities may be restricted for those with special needs owing to their personal safety.

Training is conducted not only in a local unit environment, but also within Kent, Southern Area, the United Kingsdom but also with International opportunities throughout the world!!! and includes activities like Seamanship; Traditional Naval Communications; Band; Drill & Ceremonial; Cook Stewarding; Expedition Training; Diving; Target Shooting; Military Adventurous Training; Various Watersports; Rock Climbing; Physical Training.

As well as all of this Cadets can gain Nationally recognised qualifications from BTEC via the Cadet Vocational Awards Office in Public Service, Enginnering or Music and also par take in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme upto Gold Level where the Marine Society and Sea Cadets are a Licensed Award Body.

About The Sea Cadet Corps

The Sea Cadet Corps is a nationwide voluntary uniformed youth organisation, open to all young people aged 12 to 18, Marine Cadets for young people aged 13 to 18 and with Junior Sections open to those of 10 to 12 years of age. It is Britain's most successful nautical organisation for the development of young people with Units run by enthusiastic adult volunteers.

We have a rank structure modelled on that of the Royal Navy, giving Cadets an opportunity to progress and take up positions of responsibility as they acquire skills and seniority. On reaching 18, many Cadets choose to stay on as adult instructors, when their training and talents become invaluable.

The remit of the Sea Cadets is to provide fun, friendship, adventure and learning new skills based on waterborne and land based activities.
