TS Lochinvar
The Queensferry Sea Cadet Unit officially opened its doors to cadets on 17th September 1974. After several building moves (some sites outside of Port Edgar Marina and then back again), we are currently sited in the Old Boiler House, Port Edgar Marina, South Queensferry. Our current Commanding Officer is Lieutenant (SCC) CHK Butcher RNR, he assumed command on 1st December 2005.
The Unit formed a Junior Sea Cadet Section in February 2006 of which we now have 10 cadets and a waiting list! Our Marine Cadet Detachment was formed in August 2006 ( the first Marine Cadet Detachment to be formed in the Northern Area of the Sea Cadet Corps for 20 years), we now have 11 Cadets. The Sea Cadet side of the Unit has 22 cadets and we have 20 staff ranging in rank from Civilian Instructor to Lieutenant.
The Unit is open to children from the age of 10 years. Juniors are 10-12 years, Sea Cadets are 12-18 years and the Marine Cadets are 13-18 years. Our Parade nights are held at the Unit on Monday and Thursday nights from 19:00 to 21:15hrs, although during the boating season (1st April-1st October approx). We finish Monday's parade night slightly later at 21:30.
Children are invited to the unit on an Parade night (with their parent/guardian) to have a look around, meet the cadets and staff and perhaps even try us out!!!!
