This year all the standards except one were carried by cadets, demonstrating that the cadets are proud and honoured not only to carry cadet forces standards but those of associations, such as RAFA & Burma Star with pride.
The weather held out in the morning; however the Sea & Air Cadets were not so lucky at the afternoon parade in Briton Ferry, where we got a good soaking. Still it's a small price to pay, in order to remember and to pay our respects to those who gave and those who continue to give their lives so we can enjoy the liberties we have today.

Unit Motor Boat has a makeover
Neath unit is fortunate enough to have on loan from the MOD (N) a 16' Slow Motor Boat. However the craft is now 45 years old and starting to show it's age after many sea cadet come alongsides..... Lt Neil Jones supported by other members of the unit team undertook a project to revive our aging craft and ensure it's fit for another 45 years. Many months of hard work have gone into replacing all the timber, new cables, fibreglass and gel coat mean it's now looking ship shape.
Regrettably this project has meant the craft has been out of action this season, but now it's looking good and ready for the winter season.
Thanks to all the staff and cadets who helped out.

Andrew Cumpstone shot very well, and consequently won a place in the team to go to the Area Shooting Competition, with Fishguard Unit being the overall shooting winners.
Our swimmers after a superb balanced team effort, came away victorious, winning lots of individual medals, as well as the overall gala itself.
Credit must go to Mr Simon Pierce & Petty Officer Pierce who assembled the swimming team, and Petty Officer Gilchrist for training the shooting team. The cadets themselves compeated well in a fair and sportsmanlike way, whcih typifies the conduct of Neath Sea Cadets.

Neath Sea Cadets Support Welsh Dragons Burns Club
On Saturday 25th August 2007, 16 children in addition to the adult volunteers from the Dragon Burns Club attended a fun day arranged in conjunction with Neath & District Sea Cadets & Corus Strip Products UK.
The children had a go at Sailing, powerboating, canoeing and Air Rifle Shooting.
The weather was fantastic with a nice gentle breeze for the sailors. This is the second year we have hosted this event, and we are delighted to support such a fantastic group of people, said Simon Oglesby, Commanding Officer and a Corus Employee.

Sea Cadet help out with Clean Our Canal
Neath Sea Cadets, joined by Neath Air and Army cadets, teamed up to support a Melin Communities First and Keep Wales Tidy Initiative on a very rainy May Saturday.
The tri service cadet team was tasked with removing a substantial amount of refuse and debris that people had seen fit to dump in and around a stretch of the Neath Canal.
The Army & Air cadets took charge of the shores, whilst the sea cadets got afloat and removed sack up on sack of rubbish from the canal including a wheelie bin and a bed!
In just 2 hours the team filled a commercial size skip.
BZ to all involved.
