T.S. Royalist Sail Training
Last year's Royalist berth prize winners, 2 paying cadets, the O-i-C & PPO Marr set sail from Petrol Pier, Gosport on Saturday 24th October 2009 for a week of offshore sail training.
They got to haul ropes, set sails, climb rigging, helm the ship & visit 1 French & 2 British ports. There were task books to complete, ship cleaning & mess duties to fulfill as well.
The adventurous sailors will remember their time on Royalist for quite a while to come. Some are even planning their next Royalist sail training week.
There are more pictures in the Gallery.

Recruiting & Fundraising at Chatham Dockside
Cadets and Instructors formed a press gang alongside a promotional stand for the Sea Cadets at the Dockside Oultet Centre in Chatham Maritime on Wednesday 26th August 2009.
The unit was on the lookout for likely types to recruit as Cadets and Adult Volunteers, speaking with parents, carers and young people from across the county who were visiting Chatham for retail therapy or other such nefarious delights such as Dickens World or the Multi Screen Cinema on site.
Handing out leaflets and gizzits (freebies) to those who showed an interest in joining the best youth organisation in the UK.
If you missed the Press Gang but would like to know more about joining the Sea Cadets you can email mtsc@hotmail.co.uk or you can Telephone 01634 570171 (24 hr answering service)
Come and find out for yourself what the Cadets do and achieve. See you there!

DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER?
Medway Towns Unit is run by a Unit Management Committee of volunteers who run the charitable side of the local youth organisation. We are looking for people who wish to put something back into their community but don't have the time for a full time commitment. Ideally they will have experience in running a small organisation or skills that could be used to support that, such as professional people or people with practical skills. The commitment is about 4 hours per month and is unpaid, other than in knowing you are doing something to make your community a better place by moulding the Good Citizens of Tomorrow.

GO APE !
On the Saturday of the Easter weekend; an intrepid, but wary group of Cadets and Staff made their way to Leeds Castle, near Maidstone for an unknown adventure through the trees. When I say through the trees, I mean through the tree-tops. The experience is described as being a 'high-wire forest adventure'. That means giant obstacle courses up in the trees using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super strong wire and topped off with the country's best zip lines.
