Hove Unit was formed in 1942 as part of “Warship Week” the first parades were held in the basement of a Church in Holland Road, Hove. Since then the Unit has moved Headquarters on a number of occasions within the Hove area. We have been at our present location in Marmion Road, Hove since January 2001.
Since our formation, thousands of boys and girls have gained from the experience of being Cadets in Hove Unit and some now have their own children in the Unit. There are also a number of ex-cadets who are in regular contact with the Unit or are serving as members of staff.
We are proud to be an active youth organisation that serves the community in many different ways and we hope that your child will also benefit from the experience.
Hove and Adur Sea Cadets are fortunate to be affiliated to two Royal Naval Ships, one officially and one unofficially, and also a naval land establishment. These are HMS Ocean the Commando Carrier and HMS Shoreham a mine hunter. We maintain regular contact with both ships, and where ever possible ships visits are arranged. We are also affiliated to HMS KING ALFRED, the Royal Naval Reserve establishment located on Whale Island, Portsmouth.
