Corps Values
The Sea Cadets is Britain's most successful nautical organisation for the development of young people.
Its founding premise was and remains "…to encourage valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct, using a nautical theme based on the customs of the Royal Navy".
In an increasingly individualistic society, where the importance of teamwork and community is often overlooked, the Sea Cadets is a force for good; an organisation designed to promote personal development, social inclusion and citizenship amongst the country's young people, whatever their background, race, creed or colour.
Our general aim is to provide Cadets with structured training so they can progress towards good citizenship, as well as achieve nationally recognised qualifications.
The movement introduces young people to an organised, disciplined and stimulating environment where they can learn new skills, interact and collaborate with their peers and where confidence and self-esteem can flourish, while they have a huge amount of fun!
Cadets are expected to comply with the new Code of Conduct for Cadets which was published recently by Headquarters.

Cadet Uniforms
Cadets are issued with and wear their No1 "Square Rig" on special and ceremonial occasions. Normally parade rig is their No.8's with Wooley Pulleys and berrets.
If Cadets are interested in buying a Unit polo shirt (white with Guildford SCC and the Sea Cadets crest), please see the sample at the Unit. If there is sufficient interest we will take orders. No prices yet – it all depends on demand. They are a nice idea for Cadets to wear at competitions and other events where formal uniform is not appropriate or practical.
If you have any questions about how to wash uniforms or positioning of badges, please speak to CI Helen Buckley. Helen can also arrange for Number 1 uniforms to be dry cleaned for a very reasonable price. Please do not wash Number 1 jackets or trousers, or tumble dry woolly pullies. They are expensive items to replace if they shrink.

Unit History
The first parade for TS Queen Charlotte was held on Monday 19 October 1942 at Northmead Senior Boys School, Guildford and 90 Cadets made the first parade. Actually 116 boys presented themselves on that night but 16 were over age. The unit was formed after a small debate and from the original idea to the first parade took a mere 4 months. It moved to some Nissen huts at the bottom of Lawn Road and prospered under the command of Lt Cdr Eric Reid, including the establisment of an award winning band. The Unit's name is on the Canada(1968) and Stevenson Trophies (5 times) for best in the country and area.
The existing buildings were started in Sept 1962, with Dame Vera Lynn as the principal guest at the opening ceremony 20/10/63.
Until 2004 there was also a Marine Cadet Unit.
2007/8 was our 65th Anniversary Year and various events and fundraising were held to commemorate the occasion.
Things have moved on from 1942 when it was essentially a recruiting organisation and today we have both boys and girls from 10 to 18 and the theme is "responsible adulthood based on a maritime curriculum" and the aim is to have some fun on the way!
