TESCOS FUND RAISING DAY

15th March saw a rotation of cadets throughout the day manning the Dover Sea Cadet stand for the annual fund raising collection at Tescos at Whitfield.

Not only was the final amount £697.39 raised, but we did make the public aware that the Sea Cadets have a Unit in Dover, this also got us a lot of enquiries for potential cadets, especially in the junior section age group.

Well done to all the cadets that attended and to 1st Class jnr cdt Jamie Nye, who manned the stand from 1030 to 1930.

Marines on the Green

bandstand

This year we were invited to attend the Royal Marines concert & Beat the Retreat on Walmer green, the aim was to walk amongst the 1000’s of onlookers with collection buckets and concert programmes.

Each year the Royal Marines Portsmouth band come to Deal in July for an annual concert to raise money for the Deal Memorial Bandstand Trust, which was erected after 11 bandsman were killed by a IRA Terrorist bomb in September 1989.

Trafalgar Day Parade – Sunday 14th October 2007

This years Annual Trafalgar Day Parade is being held in Folkestone on Sunday 14th October.
This is a very important date in the Sea Cadet calendar.
This Parade is compulsory for all cadets and Juniors (the District Officer requests that you send a letter to
me/him explaining your child’s absence from this Parade).

Uniform to be as follows:
Cadets - No1’s, BLACK socks and highly polished boots/shoes.
Juniors - Beret, Sweatshirt, white shirt with collar (i.e. school shirt)
BLACK socks and highly polished shoes/boots.

All Cadets requiring transport to Folkestone need to be at the Unit by 1215 at the very latest please, as we
need to have counted all Cadets/Juniors into the minibus etc. and made our way to Castle House Car Park in Folkestone by 1250. From the Car Park the Parade will march to the Church, attend a short service and then march back to the car park, taking the salute on the way.
As I will not be at the Parade, could please ask any Parents taking their child over to Folkestone separately
to please contact Sub/Lt Dyer at home on (01304) 212047, before the day so that we can work out numbers requiring transport. Also, as we now have 46 Cadets & Juniors on the books, if any Parents would be willing to take others in their cars that would also be very much appreciated (could you also let Sub/Lt Dyer know, before the day, on the above number).
Unfortunately, New Entries & Juniors without a Uniform are unable to fall in and march to the Church with the
Uniformed Ranks, but they are quite welcome to come along and watch, as of course, are any Parents or Friends who may like to watch.
Parking for anyone NOT taking part in the Parade is the Underground car park nearby (I imagine someone will be able to direct you on the day).
The Parade is due to finish at approx. 16:30 so we hope to be back at the Unit between 1700 & 1730.
Could I please ask that you are ready to pick up your Child by 1730 at the latest as this will have been a very
long day for everyone involved.
