Friends and family are more than welcome to come and watch and join in with the service. We will be back at the unit at about 1pm.

Salford cadets selected for prestigious African Adventure

Two City of Salford Cadets were recently selected for places on exercise Lesotho Venturer 2010. Part of the celebrations for Cadet 150 this is a three week adventure in the kingdom of Lesotho in South Africa in conjunction with Sentabale, the cadets will be undertaking charity work helping in youth and children’s projects, as well as taking on the challenge of scaling Thebanya Netenyana, the highest mountain in Southern Africa.

Well done to both Nick Woodhead and Callum DiTondo on being selected.

Highest Efficiency award for Salford Unit

We have recently received the report from our recent Annual Inspection and City of Salford received a Burgee for 2009. All units are graded based on the quality of their training, and achievements of their cadets and staff over the year.

This is a fantastic achievement, and reflecs the hard work put in by the staff and cadets over the last year as well as preparing for the inspection.

The SCC grades units as either no award a pennant or a burgee, and City of Salford has gone from no award to a burgee in the space of 4 years. This is a really outstanding acheivement.

Adult Volunteers

We are always looking for new Adult Volunteers....

Our volunteers come from all backgrounds, all walks of life and eveeryone has something to offer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I haven't been in the Navy or Marines - can I still help? Of course you can. Whilst current or former members of the Armed Forces are always welcome as instructors, in actual fact most of our volunteers have no experience in the Armed Forces, most are ex-cadets or parents who decided to help out.
Q. Do I have to waer a uniform? Not at all - there are a number of different roles for adult volunteers within the SCC. Some do require you to wear a uniform, but others don't. Come along and have a chat about how you could get involved.
Q. I don't have any special skils - how can I help? OK you may not be able to kayak, or know how to march, but you will bring something hugely important, your life skills and experience are the single most important aspect of being an adult volunteer. Throw in some enthusiasm and you're more than half way there. We need people to help with everything from selling sweets at "stand-easy" to organising fundraising events. If you're willing to work as part of a great team there's a spot for you.
