The Unit
Our cadets are both girls and boys aged from 12 to 18 years old.
At City of Salford Unit, as in all units, the instruction of our cadets is based on the training, customs and traditions of the Royal Navy.
Our aim is to help young people towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct using a nautical theme based on these customs.

The range of activities that our cadets can get involved in is huge, rowing, power boating, cooking, IT skills, physical training, scuba diving, hillwalking, football, swimming, orienteering, target shooting, first aid, rock climbing, yacht sailing, trips on warships, fire-fighting, life-saving, meteorology, camping, raft-building, engineering...The list goes on and on, we also offer a number of exchange visits for our most senior cadets. Some of these activities are undertaken at our regional centres, but many happen in and around our Salford HQ.
We also offer the opportunity to undertake Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and various BTeC first diplomas.
