Chatham Marines Cadet Badge
The badge has three main elements, in the centre is the Royal Marines Corps Badge, flanked on the right by a shield denoting Zulu Company and on the left by the Torch of Knowledge (for learning).

Royal Marines Badge
The Royal Marines Badge, the ‘Globe & Laurel’ is worn proudly by the Unit, the Marines were formed on 28th October 1664 and have continuously evolved to remain one of the worlds elite forces.
The badge comprises; The 'Lion & Crown' denoted a Royal Regiment, granted in 1802 The only battle honour worn is 'Gibraltar', from the battle of Gibraltar of 1704 The 'Laurels' were granted to the Corps for their part in the capture of Belle Isle in 1761 The 'Globe' was granted to the Corps in 1827 instead of Battle Honours The 'Fouled Anchor' is used to represent the Naval connection The Corps motto: 'per mare per terram' - 'By Sea By Land'
