The Unit
The unit was formed in 1955 on its present site on a plot of land next door to the Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park. Over the years bits have been added to the unit and in last two years the heads (toilets)and galley(kitchen) have been renovated thanks to grants from the council and a lot of hard work by the staff and supporters.
For the last six years in a row the unit has been ranked in the top 100 units (there are 400 units in the sea cadet corps) and so has recieved a efficiency burgee, and in 2004 the uit won the McBeath trophy for the unit in the SCC that deserved special recignition.
In 2005 the unit had a very busy year after being selected for a visit by the Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps, HRH The Duke of York KG KCVO ADC. the vist went off very well - the cadets put on a seamanship display and presented the Duke with a book and a Trafalgar 200 medal.
The unit supported the New Trafalgar Dispatch which hosted events in Surrey by providing support parties and a Royal Guard for HRH The Earl Of Wessex KG KCVO ADC at a concert he hosted at Bagshot Park in September.

HMS DIADEM
The unit is named after HMS DIADEM. There have been three ships to hold this name and the last one was a second world war cruiser. The ship served with distinction in serveral areas of the war including the Russian Conveys and D Day landings. The ship was sold to Pakistan in the 1950s. The veterans of the ship support the unit and presented a cup to the unit.
