Abingdon 20th March 2010
We will be in Abingdon town Centre having a publicity event. The day is partly a chance to invite local people and organisations who have supported us recently to say Thank you to them. The day is also to show some of the activities that we do and to recruit more staff members. Please come along and have a chat to us.

Policemen of the Future?
We recently took our Juniors to see around the local Police Station, while they were there the Juniors were shown the building and some of the work and processes explained to them. They were also given the chance to try on the Stabvests that the Police have to wear.

New Trailer
We would like to give a very big thank you to Abingdon Town Council and to the Vale of the White Horse District Council. We put in a joint grant application to both of these local authorities for the majority of the money needed for the new trailer and they both came up trumps and awarded the money. The order was immediatly sent in and we now hear that the trailer is ready for collection as soon as the cheque clears. We are now hopeful that we can get the two boats off the river before Christmas and before the river floods! THANK YOU

New Boat Trailer Fund
After all the work we did to repair our Viking motor boat, we now have no trailer to put it on. The old trailer had rusted so much that it was considered to be too unsafe to use and we had to borrow one to get the boat to the river. Since using the boat over the end of the summer it is now stuck on the river, as we do not have a trailer to put it on it will have to stay in the water until we can afford to replace the old one. A new suitable trailer will cost about £2500 and we are now fundraising desperately as we need to get the boat onto dry land so that we can continue the maintenance program that it needs. We have 2 boats that need the use of a large trailer, the other boat is an ASC that we use to teach pulling. Because the old trailer was being used to store the Viking, the ASC had not been used properly for a while. We hope that next year we will be able to use the ASC to teach and that we can take part in the Pulling Competition with it. Because of this we have decided to start a fund for the new trailer and we are holding a Christmas Raffle to raise money for the fund.

Millets December 2009
Our Band went to Millets for the day to play for the customers there, we were lucky to have lovely sunshine even if it was joined by a biting wind, some of the cadets found a novel way to try to keep their ears warm!
